How did many texans financially support those involved in world war 1?

Many Texans helped those involved in World War 1 financially by raising money for the war efforts by buying "Liberty Bonds." Texans further helped by planting "war gardens" where farmers devoted their land for additional food crops. It's assessed that around 500 Texas women served as nurses in WW1. While it's estimated that around 5,000 Texans committed their lives in  WW1. Texas, therefore, became the "home front" of WW1; thus Texans sacrificed comforts, rationed and volunteered for the red cross.
