I thing the colonists felt great knowing they could get independence but scared of the war. Imagine being a family man not knowing if you would ever see them again but at the same time knowing you could help them?

It’s meaningful because it places the ultimate power in the hands of the people, although it’s the government’s duty to govern its people.

I think the colonists felt hopeful reading this part of the document. They believed that the king and Parliament had wronged them, and this part of the declaration gave them a way to right those wrongs.
