How did the decision in the plessy v. ferguson supreme court case influence the treatment of african americans during the new south?

In Plessy V. Ferguson, the Supreme Court upheld segregation laws on the grounds that "separate but equal" was justified and permissible.

This set up a system of segregation in the New South wherein segregated facilities were common and a system of segregation was rigorously enforced.

the punishment for breaking the law would depend on the conditions or the seriousness of the law being broken, if he or she breaks the law while doing some great discovery or invention then it would classify as a scientific fraud. there are other words to describe the crime but scientific fraud would be the harshest one.
