Why do you think columbus and other spanish explorers would want to “subjugate” the taino people?

Maybe because the Taino had no gold which made columbus furious, or it could be slavery.

Taino had no useful material or activity to COLUMBUS.

Explanation: Taino was a tribe, population, group of people whose main activity was SURVIVAL. They only had agriculture and hunting little species of animals. To be honest, they were never  an interesting conquer to conquerors. No precious metals or remarkable warriors.
