What were native americans required to do with their individual lands

Indians didn't believe in owning land and stuff but if that is a question in homework I think the answer should be something like this:

The Indians were forced to give the land to the american government.

a. because the u.s. was the leading with the most technology, economy, etc. also was teamed with other allies witch boosted the economy and materials to improve technology and use it.
