Compare the strengths, goals, weaknesses of north and south as they began to fight. why did the south fight? why did the north fight?

North have the strengths in the numbers of men they have to fight, factory, and plenty of resources. Theirs goal is victory by draining the south of their resources. Their weaknesses is that their men is not well trained for battle. North fight to preserve the union

The south strengths is that they have more of the experience general on their side, and better trained solider, their goals is to win the war as soon as possible because of limited resources.  Their weaknesses is that they lack resources, men to fight, and less advance weapon. The South fight to leave the union, make the union recognize them as an independent country so they can have slaves and do things their way.

an effect of the steamboat's popularity was that people began building canals in the united states and europe. this was done to find another way to transport goods across the country and in that time, transportation using the river was very slow and dangerous. it depended entirely on manpower and the current of the river. that all changed in the late 1700's when steamboats were introduced. they soon revolutionized travel and trade through the river and dominated the waterways. eventually, other means of transportation took over from the steamboats, but there was a time that they the united states to expand to the west.
