Why do you think slavery lasted so long in the american south

The South had fertile soil great for growing crops such as tobacco, cotton, etc. This led to there being many plantations and a small amount of available labor. So to resolve this issue, they brought in slaves to help their economy. Without slaves the economy would have really suffered. The reason there was so many slaves in the south was because again, the south had a good climate for growing crops while the other areas did not

so that they would delay the civil war cuz they knew it would be bloody
