Why does webster consider an equal distribution of landed property more important to freedom than liberty of the press, trial by jury, and other rights?

Because equal distribution of land keeps the power within the people. If people are powerless, then liberty expires, and common wealth will take a different form. This eventually leads to the restriction of privileges given to the people. As such there is a correlation between power and property

the noble might have thought that the system was far because they had lot of things and riches and the serf would have thought that the feudal system was un fair because of the way they were treated.
