Why did thomas jefferson refer to the election of 1800 as the “revolution of 1800”? two political parties opposed each other for the first time. the presidency passed from one political party to another. the house of representatives decided who would be president.  the electoral college votes ended up in a tie. the people voted in the election for the first time.
