There is a time draw request for a 6am draw for PT and APTT. The phlebotomist does not draw the blood until 8:00am. The time is noted on the label set as well as on the tube. It is received in the laboratory by 8:15am and is analyzed by 8:45am. The results are below: PT: 12.2 sec
INR: 1.02
APTT: 27 sec

a. Are there any problems that can be identified in the above scenario? If so, what are they?
b. Did they affect the coagulation studies?
c. What can be done to correct this picture (if any)?
