Describe the current trend of prescription drug use among the us elderly population

There is no cure for becoming elderly. unlike in emergency rooms, where people go with fixable injuries, the elderly are put in nursing homes and assisted living facilities with problems that are more or less unfix-able. many doctors, when nursing homes had begun gaining popularity, were overwhelmed with the question "what do we do? " medication to a doctor seemed only logical. there's medication for just about everything. many elders are put on a large amount of medications that for the most part they likely don't even need. one reason for this is because unfortunately when it comes to old age, there's not many cure-able things to do. if they break a bone, that's something that can be fixed, but if the bone was broken due to dementia, well, doctors can fix the bone and put them on medication, but there's not a whole lot that can be done. being on some kind of medication, even if it's not needed, can sometimes feel like that's the only thing that .
