It is very critical because honestly education and morals are two things that definitely make your child's future. if your child tries and does good in school they could get a good paying job in the future unlike a child who just doesn't care or think it matters. so giving your child good studying habits and teaching them how to manage their time to study and do homework is very essential for every child.

If they have homework on a weekend, have them go outside for a few and do it later. Spending time with your kids and teaching them proper manners and how to behave around people is also good, especially the spending time part.
