Scenario 2. Agatha is a Disability Support Worker who works in a residential care facility for
people with disability. One of her clients is, Uri. Uri has an acquired brain injury which
has affected his cognitive function, his ability to communicate and some of his motor
skills. When Agatha first started working with Uri, he would sometimes become angry
and would kick or throw things. Agatha and other members of Uri's support team
through observing and monitoring Uri's behaviour and communicating with Uri were
able to identify that Uri's frustration in not being able to care for himself (due to a loss
of some of his motor skills) was one of the factors contributing to his angry and
aggressive behaviour. And, Uri expressed that he wanted to be able to do more
things for himself. Agatha, Uri and his support team, together set some goals around
Uri's motor skill development and his ability to perform some self-care tasks. Agatha
regularly reminds Uri of his goals and congratulates him when he makes progress
towards his goals
