Hello! I’m not sure what exactly my question is. I guess it’s probably how to get motivated. Throughout the past 2-4 years (and current) I’ve been unmotivated for practically everything. My grades in school are not good at all, and I’m currently failing 2 classes. I’m in my 2nd year of High School so my grades matter for College, but I am just not motivated at all so it’s really hurting my grades & mental health. I just don’t see the point in doing anything when it won’t matter in the end.

One day I was just thinking about what happens after death, and I came across the thought that (I’m sure you’ve heard it before) “nothing really matters because we all eventually die.” / “what’s the point in living if we all die one day?” I’d like to clarify that I’m not a depressed person whatsoever, nor have I ever been diagnosed with depression.
.
But this thought really comes to my mind often now, and it’s slowly made me think that there is no point in doing most of the things I do because if I die one day, then what’s it matter? Which has caused me to become very, severely unmotivated & just overall uninterested in everything.

I mean, sure! We eat because we get hungry, but when we die we won’t need to eat - so what is the point in eating if we’re just going to die one day, meaning that we won’t have to eat again? Like in all seriousness... there is no point to anything we do because in the end, all our thoughts, memories, etc. it won’t really matter.
.
Like If I fail a quiz / test that I *REALLY* thought I did well on... it really makes me lose motivation. Because I did my best, but my best wasn’t good enough. And so then I just go back to thinking about that saying that you hear from people sometimes, and it really makes me lose motivation. Because school matters, obviously. But when you’re dead it won’t matter, since nothing will in the end.
