Social distancing limits the close contact we have with other people. Coronavirus is spread via respiratory droplets, which are easily spread via close contact.

Therefore, if we distance from one another, there is much less chance we will come into contact with respiratory droplets that contain viruses that can infect our cells. Without cells to infect and multiply in, the coronavirus cannot survive and spread.
