Transmission is a process whereby disease causing organisms are passed from an infected person to an uninfected person. In medicine, transmission could occur through the air or droplets, as well as other vessels. Differences between these two are;

in droplet transmission , the droplets are usually wet and small (greater than 5μm) conveyors of pathogens. they are more likely to be transmissible when the host is present. they are transmissible only for a short time.

Airborne particles are;

smaller than droplets in size (less than 5μm). they could be wet or dry particles. they could be easily picked directly from the host or the surfaces he made contact with.they could still be transmissible even after  a long time.
