Jeremiah's boss asked him to design a new shipping and receiving system that would increase productivity. After choosing a new system, Jeremiah was then supposed to train several employees to use the new system. After careful consideration, Jeremiah chose a computerized system to monitor the incoming and outgoing packages. Unfortunately, the first time the system was used, it failed because of a technical malfunction. Soon after the failure, Jeremiah was unable to complete other tasks, even tasks that he had successfully completed before. Cognitive theory would suggest that the reason Jeremiah is now unable to complete additional tasks is because he the failure of his computerized system.
