What is one source error associated with self-report inventories, and what is one of its solutions?

One source of error that is commonly found when administering self-report inventories is social desirability bias.

Social desirability bias is a type of response bias that happens when respondents to self-report questionnaires such as surveys, tend to answer questions so they can be perceived positively by other people.

This bias can appear in two forms: the individual pretending to be good or pretending to be bad.  

A method to decrease this bias is by not requesting personal details (name, phone numbers, email) when administering self-report inventories since this would make the respondent feel safer in answering truthfully.

One source error is deliberate deception, and one of it's solutions is having a lie scale in the assessment.
