I believe bacteria are attacked by means of antibiotics, while viruses have to run their course. Since viruses are not bacteria, medications and antibiotics can’t attack them. Only the symptoms of viruses can be treated.

This would in fact, be true. Medication such as antibiotics have little to no effect on viruses, such as the flu.
