Stone mountain, found in north georgia, has a unique history. it was formed of magma that hardened underground. this formation is called a pluton. over millions of years a few processes caused the pluton to be exposed. first, it was pushed up by that built the blue ridge mountains. then the rock was exposed by earthquake action and erosion.
