In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy slammed into the New Jersey coast. This storm was the second most destructive storm in United States history and affected 24 states including the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine, the Appalachian Mountains, and as far inland as Michigan and Wisconsin. Go to the NOAA National Geodetic Survey web page for Hurricane Sandy: Examine the high-resolution photos on the page. Note that by scrolling across the images you will be able to see the same area before and after the passage of Sandy.
Compare the before and after pictures of the New Jersey shore and describe the changes in sediment erosion, transportation, and deposition caused by the storm surge. Make a general statement after observing all the images on the webpage.
