Slovakia is a member of both organizations, the EU and NATO. In fact, Slovakia joined both of them in the same year, in the year of 2004. The joining of NATO was first, on 29 March, and just over a month later, on 1 May, it joined the EU.

Slovakia also adopted the Euro as its currency, though that happened in 2009, five years after joining the EU.
