The foods are very "Spanish" (Spices, rice, chicken, beef pork, etc.) The Conquistadors spread their religion. They developed features from the Spanish as they intermingled with locals. They broke away, leaving lots dead and influence gone, so they built up the around the culture they already knew (Spanish). Also, their Language is Spanish from them, as they used to speak their native tongue lost to time. I hope this helped! :)
