Human factors increasing flood risk: urbanisation , because towns and cities have more impermeable surfaces

Physical causes of flooding:

heavy rainfall.

long periods of rain.

snowmelt.

steep slopes.

impermeable rock (doesn't allow water through)

very wet, saturated soils.

compacted or dry soil.
