    Mount Saint-Michel Bay is situated between Brittany in the west and Normandy in the east. With a surface area of approximately 500 km2, it is shallow and is home to two cliffs: Mount Tombelaine and Mount Saint-Michel.

  The high tide at Mont Saint Michel Bay is a particularly impressive natural spectacle. The shallow depth of the bay as well as the natural barrier formed by the Cotentin Peninsula are two factors that together make one of the highest tides in Europe. The high tides can reach up to 15 meters making Mount Saint-Michel absolutely inaccessible (unless we take the dam into account).
