Latin America cities are among the most unequal and dangerous places that have social division of the highest order developed into an urban fabric. There is clear segregation in terms of geography, as seen in Rio de Janeiro, where the city is divided into proper residential houses and favelas. There is presence of urban territories that are controlled by organized criminals and drug dealers leading to insecurity issues.There is lack of welfare coverage leading to informal economy that greatly affects women and young youths.Some solutions to these challenges are improving urban infrastructure, encouraging local jobs and practicing cultural diversity.
