The mantle, which makes up about 84% of Earth's volume has several distinct characteristics. All BUT ONE is a characteristic of the
mantle.
Movement in the mantle is expressed at Earth's surface by the motions of
tectonic plates.
The upper, rigid mantle layer is composed of dense material such as iron
magnesium silicate igneous rocks, like basalt.
The mantle is chemically distinct from the crust, is different in terms of
rock types as well as seismic characteristics.
The uppermost mantle and the overlying crust form the lithosphere, which
is relatively rigid at the top but becomes noticeably more plastic beneath.
