Unlike today, the ancient civilizations were not able to properly protect their plants, to import plants, or use suitable technology for farming, instead, the agriculture was totally dependant on the nature. What has been a native plant was used for farming it, and it was at the mercy of mother nature was it going to be a good productive year or not. Since most of the ancient civilizations were not even aware of the existence of most of the other civilizations, at first there was not trade between them, so each of them was developing its agriculture separately and according to what plants were available in the region and what kind of natural conditions ruled over the area.
