Totalitarianism in politics describes leadership that exercises total control over its citizens. The government doesn't allow any opposition either from opposition parties or individuals from concerned citizens. The leadership of such states is normally one leader who organizes propaganda campaigns conveyed by state-controlled broadcasting media.  

In this type of government, there is a lack of democracy, total control over the economy, surveillance from state troops, no freedom of speech, and state terrorism. The government's tactics to stay in control involves establishing concentration camps, persecutions, and other oppressive measures.
