In the Southern region of the USA, you will find forests (hard and soft wood) with many paper mills like International Paper, Williamette,etc., natural gas wells (big source in Louisiana called the Haynesville Shale), petroleum (land and off shore rigs, think BP, Exxon, etc.), and shrimp is a staple of the Gulf of Mexico with shrimpers from Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. The only place to find diamonds in the entire USA is in Arkansas where you can go dig for yourself and keep any stones you find. The only active zinc mines are in Tenn. and Missouri.
