The title "Subha" or meaning the dumb girl, presents the disability of Subha who cannot speak, through the perspective of the third person. Subha gains the sympathy of the reader when she creates her own world. Of Banikantha daughters, Subha was the youngest girl. Due to her impairment, her mother felt a sense of shame and was seen as a moral defect. Eventually, her mother fails to love her on being not able to force her emotions.

Therefore, in the above passage the parents of Subha are in anxiety that bride-groom has arrived as god to sacrifice himself for someone who has defied the morality.

well stockyards mean a large yard containing pens and sheds, typically adjacent to a slaughterhouse, in which livestock is kept and sorted. and i'm assuming that by party you   mean a large group of people which does make sense because chicago is a very crowded place much like new york. stockyards tend to take up a lot of room due to needing the area for pens to keep animals in and the fact that stockyards are usually right by slaughterhouse where they process and distribute the product. so its much like a zoo but with some dead animal products close by.
