Spatial organization refers to a passage that is organized based on space or location. This text gives an indication of the physical location of places, and uses this as a basis for structure. For example:

"She looked out the train window as soon as they arrived. It was clear that the town was a busy one, as she could see a marketplace to her left, various roads with dozens of people walking around, a large park right in front of the station and a bus stop to her right with several buses waiting for passengers."

explanation:

it's important for any number of settings.   but then i'm a retired teacher and my view may be biased.

it certainly will not weigh as a minus when applying to a college, while poor grades always work against you.

other factors are important like what you do to improve the community.
