I think that the awnser to this is the 4th one. Because if you know someone for a long time you get to know them as a person.

In Monster, the statement which best supports the idea that Mr. Sawicki´s opinion of Steve is valid is " Mr. Sawicki has known Steve for three years".

The first answer cannot be the right one since being gifted with some skills and having a quick mind have nothing to do with being able to make a good judgement of another person.

In the second answer the fact that Mr. Sawicki works as a teacher and leads a film club does not imply that his opinion is valid because no job can validate the opinion of someone.

The information given in the third answer is irrelevant. Steve planning to do a project over the holidays does not give any information which back up Mr Sawicki's reasoning.

However,in the fourth answer, having known someone for three years means that you have spent a long time together and ,thus, have built a solid idea of how the character of one person is.
