The primary theme of Macbeth is best described as C. the struggle between good and evil. Throughout the play, Macbeth is conflicted with his desires for power and his troubles with committing evil acts. Lady Macbeth is more ambitious than her husband but has greater difficulty with her guilt from urging her husband to commit the evil deeds. Both characters find it increasingly difficult to stop killing their obstacles to get to where they want to be. As the play progresses, one can see that once violence is used to to further one's quest for power, it becomes impossible to stop using it.
