My fellow Americans! I welcome you. We are gathered here because we have all lost something during these terrible years, and I believe it is necessary to honour it.

I am sure we can all remember how we felt at the beginning of the war. We thought that the war was necessary in order for our country to remain strong and for our families to remain free. I am sure that these concerns were part of the reason you enlisted.

Now that the war has passed, I know that we will never be the same. Our brave soldiers, you and your comrades, have experienced so much pain and so much loss. Our country has been greatly transformed because of it. However, we need to be grateful about the fact that our country still stands, and that we emerged victorious from this great tragedy. We are stronger than ever, and our future is brighter than ever before.

To finish off, my fellow Americans, I would like to remind you that your sacrifice was not in vain. Americans everywhere are grateful for your service, and for the promise of a tomorrow that you built. We will never forget you, nor will we forget how much we owe you. Thank you.
