Gatsby has done a lot to be in the position that is described in the novel, and he will surrender much more to get Daisy. The dangers which he does not think about shows the traits of courage and nobility, of course.

The love triangle between Gatsby, Tom and Daisy where Tom's lover having a relationship with her boyfriend, Tom is moving away from her and Daisy is doing the same to Tom adds to the nobility of Gatsby although the latter takes someone's wife as his own. He is unwilling to be characterized by disappointment and by his past because he is assured of himself. There is some honor in figuring out how to be consistent with yourself, regardless of the possibility that that implies making up a character and misleading everybody you meet.
