Someone who actually did this! need a good grade. a third figure of speech twain uses to good effect is personification. when you represent a thing, quality, or idea as if it were a human person, you are using personification. familiar examples are mother nature, jack frost, and uncle sam. this story contains good examples of personification in the description of andrew jackson, the dog, and dan'l webster, the frog. both are given some human qualities. list one example from the descriptions of these animals that shows them to be human, at least in simon wheeler's opinion.

In Simon Wheeler's opinion, there is an example of Andrew Jackson, the limp dog he used to bet on in dog fights. He describes the dog at length, saying that he tried very hard to please his master, even though he was impaired. In the end, he failed him and died, but this is what Simon says:
"It was a good pup, was that Andrew Jackson, and would have made a name for hisself if he'd lived, for the stuff was in him, and he had genius I know it, because he hadn't had no opportunities to speak of, and it don't stand to reason that a dog could make such a fight as he could under them circumstances, if he hadn't no talent.
