A well educated man travelling in a boat and crossing a big river - asks the boatman if he can read and write - the boatman says he can't - then the educated man replies he lost a half of his life - a big storm begins- then the boatman asks him if he can swim - he replies he can't - the boatman says that then he lost his whole life.
