It seems like there has been a surge in teen pregnancies these days. Teen pregnancies make it very difficult for young mothers to pursue their dreams and meet the demands of an infant. Fortunately, most teen pregnancies can be easily prevented by using birth control; however, even birth control is not 100% effective. The most effective way to prevent teen pregnancies is abstinence, which is 100% effective.

Paragraph 2
Drug abuse causes multiple problems for countries and communities. The medical and psychological effects are very obvious. Addicts cannot function as normal members of society. They neglect or abuse their families, and eventually require expensive treatment
or hospitalization. However, the menace of drugs can be solved. Education is the first solution. Children need to be told at home and in school about drugs. People need to be aware of the effects so that they can avoid this problem. A second solution is to increase police manpower and create effective laws to stop dealers. In conclusion, although the problem of drugs may seem impossible to eliminate, there are concrete steps that can be taken to weaken the hold of drugs on society. The danger from drugs is too great to ignore for us and our children.

Paragraph 3
Humans have always had an impact on their surroundings. Garbage is one of our biggest effects on nature. Unlike other animals, humans create too much waste for nature to keep up. With garbage comes pollution. You burn garbage it gives off extremely poisonous gases into the atmosphere. Even if we bury our garbage it will not go away. By polluting the ground it can seep into our farming soil and even into our ground water. The biggest solution to our garbage problem is the fabled R. R.R. (reduce, reuse, recycle as you have certainly heard before). Imagine if everyone recycled their paper instead of throwing it out. Our landfills would increase at considerably lower rates and we would prevent the releasing of harmful gases into the atmosphere from them. In Denmark, large efforts are being used to reduce garbage. If every nation followed this same ambition to reduce our parhage problem, our future will be much brighter for our children.

Read the excerpt from "mother tongue." lately, iā€™ve been giving more thought to the kind of english my mother speaks. like others, i have described it to people as ā€œbrokenā€ or ā€œfracturedā€ english. but i wince when i say that. it has always bothered me that i can think of no other way to describe it other than ā€œbroken,ā€ as if it were damaged and needed to be fixed, as if it lacked a certain wholeness and soundness. what best supports the inference that tan believes nonstandard english is no less valid than standard english? tan spends a lot of time thinking about her motherā€™s ā€œfracturedā€ english. tan has trouble thinking of descriptive words when she is writing. tanā€™s american education makes it difficult for her to understand her mother. tan winces when she describes her motherā€™s english as ā€œbroken.ā€
