Write a story with the ending "but for the police i would have been lynched

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Rosita and she had a brother named Gunter. They were twins, they were born in the mid-winter and they were celebrating their birthday when there was a  robbery. The robber had stolen a necklace that had run through generations. Luckily Gunter was part of the police and he called some of his police members for backup. When they got there they examined the crime scene and they found footprints that led them to a dumpster. It turned out that the robber was Lila their enemy ." Lie-ala".said Rosita. Gunter said. "you are under arrest any word you say will be used against you." Once they got to the police station they took Lila to the interrogatory room and Gunter asked, "why did you rob the necklace? Why did you decide to go to my house? Lila said that it was because she needed some money because she wanted to help someone out. Someone then came to look for Lila at the policed station he asked," may I visit my cousin Lila". The police let him and he told Lila "Wow, why did you decide to not take the shortcut!" Lila replied I would have taken the shortcut if there were one." he said then why did you not make a run for it. Lila then said  I tried but for the police, I would have been lynched.

the true goal we seek is far above and beyond the ugly field of battle. when we resort to force, as now we must, we are determined that this force shall be directed toward ultimate good as well as against immediate evil. we americans are not destroyers — we are builders.
