PROJECT: COMPLETE A TRANSFERABLE AND SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS INVENTORY You Have Transferable and Self-Management Skills
Have you ever planned an event? Have you ever assembled a puzzle? Have you ever explained how to do something? Each of these activities are examples of transferable and self-management skills.

Planning an event includes estimating, organizing, communicating, and scheduling. Puzzle assembly requires problem solving, adapting, observing, conceptualizing, and being orderly. Explaining how to do something requires communication, direction, patience, expressiveness, and teaching.

If you were asked if you have negotiation skills, would you answer yes or no? If you imagined this meant negotiating a business merger, the answer at this point in your life was most likely "no." However, the question was simpler than that. Have you ever traded an item with a sibling or a friend? What about establishing a fair price for mowing a lawn, babysitting, or washing a car? If you have ever compromised with someone, chances are you negotiated the terms of that compromise. You have transferable, self-management skills as a negotiator.
