William is considered a hero and an important symbol to the change and resistance against aristocratic rule.

Philoxenus was a very notable Syriac prose writer and one of his works was to revise the bible which was in  Syriac versions. he worked against/opposed Flavan II a rival who was a patriarch of Antioch, on his works against his rival he was invited by the emperor and he was able to implement Severus ousting Flavan at a Sidon.
