Part A - Creative Composition (20 marks) You are to select ONE of the following options to produce a creative composition. Your creative composition is to be 800-1000 words in length:

Compose the background story of the three witches before the play begins - how do the witches decide that Macbeth will be the one they speak to?
Imagine that you are Banquo’s ghost at the banquet scene. You are no longer silent. You have come back to interrogate Macbeth’s actions to this point in the play. Compose the monologue that Banquo would deliver.
Imagine you are one of the three witches who has ‘seen’ the terrible deeds Macbeth has done up to Act 3 (the murder of Banquo.) Compose the monologue you would deliver to the audience about your thoughts on how Macbeth has interpreted the information you have given to him.
“Stars hide your fires; let not light see my dark and deep desires.” Use this line as inspiration for a piece of imaginative writing that explores the dangers of ambition.

Part B - Reflection (10 marks)
You are to write a 300-400 explanation of your creative choices in Part A.
In your explanation you will need to:
Explain the purpose of your composition - what you wanted your reader to learn about your character/theme?
Explain the language choices of your composition - what language choices did you make to convey the character voice/theme? How did these choices help you to achieve your purpose?
How effective do you think your composition was in achieving your purpose?
