Ancient Rome is credited for a period of stability and prosperity without equal before or after (at least until the 19th century). although Romans were disproportionally benefited, conquered territories/cultures benefited of some level of progress and stability because Rome had a PATERNALISTIC/IMPERIALIST POLICY. Is paternalism/imperialism ever right/moral? By the principle of "the lesser of two evils", should we admit that some territories/cultures are unable to progress if left to their own governing? Many ex-colonies are stuck in the third world, often times because of corruption. At the moment, Venezuela is in a position were many want the United Stated to intervene... Should we?
