What's your opinion about JAPAN?

since you asked for a subjective perspective, I'll try to share mine.

Japan seems to be rich in natural beauty, history and, of course, culture. The last one might just be a motive to really put effort understanding the language at least at some basic level, even tough it's very distinct from my own.

I would like to travel there one day and see the cities as well as the country. My bucket list for traveling is long, but Japan got a permanent place on this wishlist.

The country and its people seem to span the bridge between tradition, art and modern technologies, efficiency, and environmental protection. I truly believe other countries and societal systems can still learn a few things more there.

Yet I'm wondering how it comes that in the most sense populated areas there are so many living lives as shadows in, partly extreme loneliness. I guess it got something to do with social stress and perfectionism. Making the strengths and the weaknesses of the Japanese society to sides of the same medal.

I guess I'm also interested in the frenemy relationship between Japan and China.

I don't feel like putting any stereotypes on individuals, and I don't thing that my birthplace is relevant, but if it's relevant for your question: I'm looking to the Japanese culture from a german perspective.

That all said, there are many interesting countries in the world. But what stands out about Japan is the enormous amount of popcultural exports. Even though many formats are shallow and cheaply written, the number of gems is just insanely high over the decades.

Overall, I guess I'm very glad that this place we call Japan exists :)
