As many members of the school’s faculty have noted, students at our school have been arriving late to classes recently. This is clearly harmful to our education. Showing up late to classes shows a lack of responsibility and time management, all of which are crucial in adult life. Additionally, the students who do arrive on time have to listen to their teachers repeat themselves, which is very tedious and disrupts class a lot.

That said, when I asked students why they were late to classes, there was a surprisingly common argument among them; they believe classes begin far too early. Usually, one or two students arriving late is a minor issue, but since a large number of students have been having trouble keeping up with the school’s schedule, I believe it’s important to acknowledge their opinions.

A possible solution, and one that has been proposed by many students, would be to change the schedule so that lessons started later than usual. Another solution would be to force students to show up on time by punishing their grades harshly if they don’t. Personally, I would go for the first solution, since it’s more understanding of the students.
