Throughout the first chapter, we see many of the Jewish people gaining a false sense of security from the Germans by the way they initially treat the Jews. We also see Moshe the Beadle trying to warn the town of what is to come despite no one believing him. Imagine you are in Elie Wiesel's shoes. How would you react if you were in his situation?
