What does it mean when your partner ask "should we even be together"?

This seems kind of personal, and I'm not too great with advice or whatever but I think they might be applying that their worried about the relationship and might want to end things.

I'm not even sure if this is an educational question or not but in my opinion, if your partner asks the phrase, "should we even be together?" that person is questioning their choice of being with you. Of course, this can mean different things in different situations. This is just my opinion.
