Sensory detail means description that includes our five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. As humans, our most prevalent sense is usually sight, so many authors’ descriptions use that as the dominant sense. Read again the excerpt from Of Mice and Men and then see how many descriptions you can find using each sense. They can be explicit (written outright) or implicit (implied; you may not read about the scent of the barn, but you can smell it while reading the passage).
