Forest Gump Questions (Urgent: it's due tonight at midnight) Question 1a: From the outside it may look like Jenny is having a lot more fun in her life than Forrest. However, why do you think it is Jenny is considering jumping off of the building? 1b) What general lesson can be learned from this part of the movie?
Question 2a: It seems as though Forrest never worries throughout the movie. Can you think of any time that he does? How do you think this affected his outlook on life? 2b) Is worrying part of a healthy life? Does it help? Explain.

3. Consider all of Forrest's successes and then write them down in an opening paragraph. Then, explain the scene in which Forrest is told by Jenny that he has a son. Particularly, explain his primary concern. What does it say about the fragility of people?

4. For an initial paragraph (or three brief paragraphs) write about the personal "monsters" Forrest, Jenny, and Lt. Dan each have to confront. Then, pick either Jenny or Lt. Dan and write about the impact Forrest had on their life. What are the specific character traits (at least 2-3) you believe Forrest displays that ultimately affect Jenny and/or Lt. Dan? Another way of looking at it is to write about why Jenny and Lt. Dan carried their "monsters' for so long.
5. What makes Forrest Gump such a very "American" movie? How are Forrest's experiences a mirroring, or metaphor for the American experience? (Consider all of the good as well as challenging). Reference at least 3 examples from the movie.
